Spotted from the Crow's Nest:Beach House Tour
Rustic Cottage in France

Houzz.com recently did a house tour of this quaint cottage in Beynac, France. Stephanie Brubaker, a lifestyle blogger who just so happens to be the lucky individual who gets to enjoy this view everyday, fell in love with the tiny village and her new home a few years ago...we can see why! It is absolutely breathtaking.

This little cottage sits on top just to the left of a chateau built in the 12th century, being that high up gives gorgeous panoramic views, no wonder Stephanie fell in love!

This driftwood light is so unique and it really ties the room together!

It's all about the lights in this bedroom! Very cool!!

This bathroom utilizes the sconce lights for just enough lighting above the mirror...simple yet nautical!

Surfside

The talented Michael McKinley and Associates is yet another one of our favorite architecture firms that incorporates all that we love, from the architectural design, interior design and breathtaking views. This seaside home in Watch Hill, Rhode Island has caught our eye, read more to see why!

The exterior of this gorgeous home has a northern yet coastal feel. With the neutral wooden shingles and white trim around the windows the colors are not overstated keeping a subtle, welcoming atmosphere.

The rounded look out point gives off a lighthouse kind of feel, incorporating more of a coastal, view-oriented environment.

The large outdoor living area creates a great space for entertaining, summer barbecues or peaceful reading.

With this second story deck looking over the entire Rhode Island coast, who would ever want to leave?

The architectural detail put into every aspect of this home is astounding, from the welcoming entrance way to the trim outlining every window, it is clear a lot of thought went into these plans.

Keeping the neutral color scheme throughout the interior as well the wood and white with countless windows makes the view the focal point in every room of the house.

The stairs leading up to a book case create a sophisticated yet simple look, while the endless windows with a dining table incorporates as much light as possible, perfect for an afternoon snack!

This unique bathroom has used up all the space possible and still manages to look very chic. The all white looks very crisp and the arched shower is something you don't see everyday!

Timeless Turquoise

The turquoise gemstone dates back to approximately 3000 B.C. in Egypt, yet the color always finds itself back in fashion. Earlier known as a holy stone, a bringer of good fortune, it was worn around the neck as protection from unnatural death, no wonder it's still so popular today!

Green Harbor BoatHouse

This gorgeous boathouse is a product of Hutker Architects, one of our favorite architecture firms. Based out of Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod and Nantucket, Hutker is a full service architecture and interior design firm, that just so happens to incorporate all that we love about coastal homes. This Green Harbor Boathouse, located in Falmouth, MA, especially caught our eye with crisp interior designs and breathtaking views.

The classic cedar shake siding with white trim keeps that original Nantucket style, while incorporating stone perfect for a cape cod home. The open hallway allowing the beautiful view to be seen from the front of the house is a unique aspect not often used.

Nothing beats this view! These Adirondack chairs incorporated into the breathtaking view and the seemingly endless infinity pool create a prefect setting for relaxation and simple living. Really, what can be better?

The neutral wooden colors and large glass sliding doors, keep the attention on the beautiful surroundings.

The greenery and overgrown wildlife creates an amazing natural, untamed look perfect for a spot on the water.

Windows galore! Hutker does an amazing job at capturing the perfect boathouse feel by making the view the main focus of the house.

White walls in the kitchen with slate countertops and wooden driftwood counter stools bring in variety and shows off the homeowners personality, while the stainless steel lighting gives off the perfect lighting for cooking and entertaining.

This modern bathroom with pebble flooring switches up the theme of the house a bit. The colors remain coastal yet the design incorporates a contemporary feel.

So crisp! The all white wood gives off that fresh clean feeling that brings in so much light and yet again focuses on the views. Incorporating a passageway light keep that authentic boathouse feel.

The light green and blues are so surreal in this living room, generating a spa-esque environment.

The brown wicker adds contrast from the endless white and pastels. This spot is perfect for reading and taking in that saltwater scent!

Our favorite bathroom! The sea-foam colors and the old fashioned bathtub, everything about it leaves us in awe!

Spotted from the Crow's Nest:Beach House Tour
Manhattan Beach Bungalow

One of our absolute favorite design blogs "House of Turquoise" just featured this stunning "Manhattan Beach Bungalow" found in this months Country Living. When seeing this house you are left feeling like you never knew a seaside cottage and a city loft could look so good together. The shapes, textures and shades of blue in this space are truly coastal eye candy.
Living Room: Don't be afraid to use different shades of the same color, it can create depth and intrigue. Also we are all for painting the insides of your built in's, look at that blue!

Kitchen: I like to think of this space as "modern country kitchen". You have all the elements that make a kitchen homey and warm but with the easy touch of modern accessories. Never be afraid to mix genres it makes things interesting.

Breakfast Nook: Lets just say it, is there anything better than a breakfast nook? I can just picture myself now reading the Sunday paper while sipping on coffee (or a mimosa depending on the Sunday). The bead board gives the nook a traditional New England feel while the fabric jazzes it up a bit.

Desk/ Vanity: Did we say we love mixing genres and styles? The traditional West Indies style desk with the modern lucite chair! To die for. However there has to be an element that brings the opposing styles together. For example add a paint color like the one above that can play as both classic and/or trendy.

Master Bedroom: Don't be afraid of wallpaper. I know somewhere along the way wallpaper got a bad wrap but we promise there are many gorgeous options. Sometimes we think the bolder the better, especially if you have a more neutral room. Don't forget some of the most historic/ classic spaces have the loudest walls.

Kids Room: We love a good built in! Although most of the time we are referring to shelves this time we mean bunk beds. For a more elegant (sturdy) bunk bed go for a built in that also incorporates storage. Looks cute and serves as a fort for the little guys. Kind of like living on a boat!
