Inspirations on the Horizon: Southampton Showhouse
What fun! While staying in the town of Remsenburg, my childhood home in the Hamptons, I was lucky enough to have the time to visit the Hampton Designer Showhouse in Bridgehampton. It's always a welcome trip to travel out east and see the sites. Especially when you know the back roads to beat the traffic. Miles of beautiful scenery, farm stands, vineyards and antique shops, lead us to our destination The Hampton Designer ShowHouse. I always temper my expectations with the understanding that each designer must do their best to stand out, take some risks and at the same time make the room functional, inviting and memorable. Some of the rooms did just that and some did not.. I have to say overall, it was worth the visit. I look for innovative ideas, high impact and a touch of practicality.
Entry(pictured above) by Haus Interior The entry designed by Nina Freudenberger of Haus Interior was a little severe, with a modern graphic blue and white wall paper and deep navy paint accented with white trim. I applaud her efforts to do something a little unusual with the lighting. Glass balls tied together with rope and lit made a wonderful chandelier and sconces.

Living Room by Lilian August Design Team The main living area was beautiful. Designed by Lilian August design team ...they took a large space and made it work. Over sized linen sofas, a color scheme of naturals, creams and whites, large scale art and simple styling made the room inviting and comforting. When you walk into the room it just feels right..size is proportionate, simplicity was artfully done, key elements stood out. In particular, two extra large glass vases on pedestals flanked the entry with super sized wooden branches. Sculptural simplicity at it's best. Well done ..
