Spotted from the Crow's Nest:Beach House Tour
Kiawah Island Seaside Escape

The Carolina coast is somewhat of a forgotten seashore yet one of the most beautiful this country has to offer. Just outside of Charleston, SC, the "Low Country" as it is often referred to is known for it's beaches, oysters and exceptional southern hospitality. Kiawah is one many private islands that make up the scenic low country. Today's house tour featured on Seaside Style is what we like to think of as the perfect low country home.

Inspirations on the Horizon: Coastal Gifts for Mom

1. Antique Silver Shells: Sometimes the best gifts are those small mementos that we see everyday and remind us of the ones we love. These silver shells are just that; timeless, thoughtful and classic... just like mom!

We are ending Earth Day and heading straight for Mother's Day! We believe that Mother Earth's greatest gift is the ocean so this Mother's Day give you mom some sea side serenity. Here are some of our favorite coastal treasures that will surly show your mom how much she means to you.

Inspirations on the Horizon: Coastal Table Top

We said it before and we will say it again, changing up your tablescape is a quick and fun way to keep your home interesting and up with the season. None of us are going to go out and and by all new furniture when we need a little change (although that might be nice...). And having decorations in your house to make things festive could start to feel a little kitschy after awhile. Decorating your table is a great way to be creative without feeling like you are breaking the bank or being tacky. Now that it's spring and we are quickly rolling into summer it's a great time to bring in some new coastal accents. We like the idea of a table that could easily be seen indoors or out depending on the weather. A table with some rustic sophistication if you will.

Coastal Wildflower Hikes

We all learned from a young age that April showers bring May flowers. May is just around the corner and what better way to see the spring blooms than to take a coastal hike. Each coastal region of the United States has it's very own sense of identity and beauty. So whether you hail from the north, south, east or west get out in nature and see what your coast has to offer. Here are some of the most beautiful outdoor path and parks to explore!

Somethings Gotta Give

There is no question that the 2003 Nancy Meyer's film Somethings Gotta Give left us all drooling over what has become the pinnacle in coastal design. Set in the Hampton's this movie dream house reminded us all of what we love so much about shingled seaside chateaus. There is an elegant yet rustic art to summer living in the Hampton's which was captured oh so beautifully in the film (Diane Keaton and Louis Armstrong warbling in the background didn't exactly hurt either). The simple lines and touches can be easy to replicate so here are some of our favorite details.

Inspirations on the Horizon: Seaside Summer Bedding

As summer approaches and it warms up we are quickly trading out our heavy blankets for light and airy linens. Although we won't be spending quite as much time bundled up in our warm beds, we do still need a restful place to take our post beach afternoon naps. Our bedrooms should reflect the relaxing playfulness that comes with summer. Whether you are a modernist or traditionalist I think we can all agree that a peaceful coastal inspired bedroom is exactly what we all crave in the summer months.

White rooms are timeless, you really can never go wrong. A white space done right can feel refreshing and cool like a sea breeze yet warm and inviting for the whole family to enjoy. We believe the key to a successful white on white space is to incorporate different tones of white and cream with a variety of materials and textures. The subtly variations in change will add a richness to your room while still maintaining that clean coastal look you want to achieve.

Successful Sectional Sofa's

1. Coastal Sectional

Sectional sofas often receive a bad rap, so we are here to put your sectional sofa anxieties to rest. We recently came across a great post by "Things That Inspire" that expresses our same sectional sofa sentiments. Sectionals are not only extremely comfortable and family friendly but when done right can be just as stylish as any other sofa. It seems that the lack of quality and attractive sectional sofa's is a misconception because when looking we came across some great finds, the perfect center piece for cozy coastal living.
