Portuguese Coastal Beach House

 In Comporta, a fishing village, huts were scattered along the shore. They were simple structures consisting of thatched roofs, sand floors, and not much else. Here is a  traditional Portuguese fishing hut, renovated for modern living by Aires Mateus and Assoc.
 The sand floor is warmed by a radiant-heat system. White slipcover sofas and chairs give lots of comfy seating.

South Carolina Beach Bungalow

A Beach Bungalow on South Carolina’s popular Folly Beach, designer Amelia Handegan renovates a 1940s oceanfront retreat without sacrificing its relaxed charm.

 The screened porch and sofas are stained plywood, with white upholstered Sunbrella cushions and pillows in a Batik style print. The view from this porch is amazing.

Happy Thanksgiving! Holiday special-How to create: Driftwood Christmas Tree


Driftwood Christmas Tree
 Steps to create your own:


1. lay out your driftwood largest piece on bottom and stack slightly smaller each row until you reach the smallest piece at the top which should create the shape of a tree.
2. Attach the driftwood with fishing line or screws to a piece of plywood or directly to your wall.
3. We found this cool coastal wood star that we used as our topper, you can use a starfish as well.
4. String your lights starting at the bottom crossing back and forth, when you reach the top cross back down.
5. Start hanging your ornaments. We hung glass rope balls and nautical lanterns on ours.

Our driftwood tree is 8' tall and made from large pieces of driftwood.

Celia Bedilia Designs, an interior design firm based in Cumberland, Maine, this is her home and just one of her many fabulous works. Like most coastal homes, this home had been added on to several times and lacked a cohesive theme or aesthetic. With a stunning view, Celia wanted to mimic it within the home.

Color of sand, blue, and white were used to achieve the ultimate coastal look for this relaxing bedroom.

The lovely beach front Inn, The Tides Beach Club in Kennebunkport has a fresh, cool and luxurious design. Recently updated by fabulous interior designer, Jonathan Adler.  New suites were created by Adler, “Ocean” and “Sea” feature amazing views from each window and an extraordinary private deck.
