Life
feels better when you live in a welcoming uncluttered space that nourishes your
soul - you are better able to breathe, to create, to contemplate, to relax and
to live a balanced life. So
for the New Year, we share some of our tips on making your home ship-shape -
bringing more life to your space, making your home feel fresh, beautiful,
spacious, uplifting and inviting... like a sanctuary!
#1 Make a List
#1 Make a List
My kids and husband will attest to my crazy list fetish.
Once it's written on the list, you can free your mind to focus on the
steps to achieve your goals instead of continuing to ponder all that has
to be done.
#2-Tackle one room at a time.
#3 De-Clutter
#2-Tackle one room at a time.
#3 De-Clutter
- Purge by asking yourself :
- Do I really love this?
- How does this item make my life better?
- Have I used it in the past year?
- Will I really ever use this again?
#4 Organize what's left
#5 Rearrange
One of the easiest ways to give a space an entirely new look. The
arrangement of furniture in the room can make or break the look and feel
of the room. Is there a focal point? If not, create one and rearrange the
space around that focal point. Place furniture and accessories of various
sizes and heights evenly throughout the room for balance and visual
appeal. Good design isn't just about proportions, it's about
imagination and surrounding yourself with things that are genuinely
nourishing.
#6 Evaluate
Once the space allows you to breathe, sit back and look at the room with
a new eye - How does it flow? Does it make you feel comfortable? Does it
really represent who you are?
#7 Make small
changes they can make a huge difference. It can be as simple as:
#8 Add
one special new piece like an oversized chaise or a classic comfy sofa
that will redefine your space and will be loved, cherished and enjoyed for
many years.
#9 Finishing Touches- Add art and decorative accessories....
Once you've transformed your castle into a gracious and
welcoming living space that makes you feel good, you will be able to think more
clearly, relax more peacefully and love more deeply.
